Providing homes for all ages

The designs in this consultation focus on creating new homes for people of all ages and different housing needs.

Below are some ideas for the types of homes and outdoor spaces that could be created on the site. These ideas make use of existing features and local facilities.

Example of later living housing designed for odler people that are easy to access and live in.

Housing for all ages

Our aim is to provide different types of homes for people of all ages and needs. This could include homes for older people, families and people who need extra support.

Types of homes:

  • Extra care housing: Homes for older people who want to live independently, with care and support available if needed. These developments often include shared indoor and outdoor spaces where residents can meet and socialise.
  • Later living housing: Homes designed for older people that are easy to access and live in. They help people stay independent in a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Supported living: Homes for people who need extra support because of a disability, mental health condition or other support needs. Residents can live independently while receiving help suited to their individual needs.
  • General needs housing: Standard homes, such as houses, flats and bungalows, for individuals, couples and families who can live independently. These homes can be private, affordable or social housing and can help meet local housing needs.

Outdoor spaces

As well as new homes, we want to create a range of outdoor spaces for people to enjoy. This could include private gardens, shared green spaces, and areas for children to play and neighbours to meet.

We also want to improve links to nature by creating green routes connecting the site to the River Lemon, Bakers Park and Bradley Woods. These spaces would be for both local residents and the wider community to enjoy.
